• Urinating less often or in smaller amounts – Dark-colored urine or a noticeable drop in how much you pass. 
• Foamy, bubbly or frothy urine – Could indicate excess protein in your urine, an early symptom of kidney disease. 
• Urine with blood – Pink, red, or cola-colored urine may mean bleeding in the urinary tract. 
• Pain or pressure while urinating – Can signal an infection or blockage. 

Kidney disease swelling (edema) symptoms 

When your kidneys can’t remove extra fluid, it can collect in your body, causing swelling in: 

• Legs, ankles or feet 
• Hands or fingers 
• Face, especially around the eyes 

Tiredness and fatigue as kidney disease symptoms

• Feel tired or weak, even after resting 
• Have trouble concentrating (“brain fog”)

Call 911 or go to the emergency room if you experience: 

• Severe shortness of breath or chest pain 
• Sudden, extreme swelling of the face, arms, or legs 
• Blood in your urine with clots or severe pain 
• Confusion or extreme fatigue
